Tintu, Neena V, Jinson Johnson win Silver
Indian shot put national record-holder Manpreet Kaur shown tremendous improvement as she secured the first gold medal for the country with an early world leading 18.86m in the Asian Grand Prix here on Monday.
After breaking her previous NR by tossing the iron ball to 18.03m in her third round she achieved the BIG one in the next. Bian Ka from hosts China finished a distant second at 17.96m.
Indians received two silver medals in field events through javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and long jumper V. Neena.
Neeraj, the world junior Champion and record-holder, could muster only 82.11m today. The gold in this event went to Chinese-Taipei's Cheng Chao Rain in 84.72m.
Neena leapt a season best 6.46m on her second round and conceded the gold to Vietnam's Bu Thi Thu Thao (6.58m).
Half-milers Jinson Johnson and Tintu Luka earned two silver medals on the track in 800m.
Sprint queen Dutee Chand pockets a bronze in 100m clocking 11.59 secs. The first two places went to Kazakh duo Viktoriya Zyabkina (11.44) and Olga Safranova (11.59).
Shot putter OM Prakash Singh Karhana is the other Indian to win a bronze today.
