Annual General Council Meeting

The Annual General Council Meeting of the Association was held at Saphire Room, Gokulam Park Sarovar Hotel, Kaloor, Kochi on 27th May 2017. Sri.Baby Mathew Somatheeram, President of the Association presided over the meeting. 
The Meeting paid homage to three of their stalwarts who left for their heavenly playfield after a long innings.- Sri. K Parameswaran, former Vice President of the Association and the Secretary, Palakkad District Athletics Association, Sri. V K Viswanathan, the voice of Kerala Athletics in the competition arena and Dr. P Chathukutty, former Joint Secretary of Association and Secretary of Kannur District Association.
Kerala State Sports Council award winners of the year 2015 , Mr. P R Purushothaman- Olympian Suresh Babu Memorial Life Time achievement award, Sri. Jaikumar, Best Coach of the year  and Maju, Best School Physical Education Teacher, were also  honoured by the Association.
The council approved the detailed annual report presented by Secretary and the audited statement of accounts of the Association presented by treasurer. The council members also approved the competition calendar for the year 2017. The Association took a bold step by allotting different slots to accommodate all athletics competition in the state- including the sub-district, district and the state schools athletics competitions. The competition slot for athletics competitions of all universities in Kerala State are also slated out. This gallant effort is taken by the Association to streamline the athletics activities in the state.
The Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium at Thiruvananthapuram will play host to two state championships and the South Zone Championship
1. The 61st Kerala State Senior Athletics Championship on 24th and 25th June 2017.
2. M K Joseph Memorial 15th Kerala State Inter District Club Athletics Championship 2017 on 26th, 27th and 28th August 2017.
3. The South Zone Championship  on 18th and 19th September 2017
Association decided to propagate the “Kids athletics” programme  in schools to highlight physical fitness among school students.
Coaches Education Programme is also a priority of event in Association activities for the year.
The Council members expressed their concern about the recommendation made by the Central Government to do away with the grace marks system prevailing in our education programme. Association passed a resolution to be presented it to the Chief Minister of Government of Kerala.
